ELBAG groups–locally and nationally are strengthening civil society platforms for raising issues, mobilising people & influencing governments. To amplify and strongly articulate peoples voices, their expectations from the economic policies, to demand those needs to be reflected in budgets, and to also take stalk of how has the government being responding to such articulations, peoples budget initiatives were organised in Pakistan

The methodologies of ELBAG and social audit were used by ActionAid-Pakistan along with its local partner Badin Rural Development Society (BRDS) that has been amplifying local people's voices against unilateral terms and conditions imposed in land leasing process, land degradation, denial of job opportunities to local people, destruction of road infrastructure and other corporate abuses by British Petroleum Pakistan (BPP) in Badin district.

AAI Pakistan has been endeavoring to promote the interests and create benefits for the poor people through stronger and informed activism of the civil society in holding governance to account by influencing the course of budgetary processes, priorities and decision making. ‘People's Charter on Budget' is one of such bottom-up initiatives AAIPakistan  has taken through its civil society partners across the country.
